Trustee fees are tailored to the nature of each engagement, as trusts vary significantly in their administrative requirements, asset mix, beneficiary relationships, and overall complexity.
Fees are generally structured on an hourly basis during the initial transition and assessment period. Once administration has been stabilized and the scope of ongoing services is better understood, fees may move to a fixed monthly, retainer, asset-based, or hybrid arrangement, as appropriate.
All scope, fee, and billing arrangements are discussed and agreed upon before services begin and documented in the engagement letter.
Trust administration engagements are subject to a minimum annual fee of $10,000. This minimum reflects the ongoing fiduciary responsibilities, oversight, availability, and administrative obligations inherent in serving as a professional trustee.
The ongoing trustee fee arrangement does not apply to extraordinary matters, including post-death administration, trust termination, litigation, tax controversies, business operations, or significant real property transactions, unless expressly agreed in writing.
Trust Administration
Executor compensation is governed by California Probate Code §10800, which sets statutory fees based on the gross value of the estate. These fees are not set by Presidio Private — they are established by California law and apply uniformly to all executors, professional or otherwise.
In addition to statutory fees, extraordinary compensation may be requested for work outside the ordinary course of administration — such as controversy management, real property sales, or litigation — and is subject to court approval.
We work closely with supervising counsel throughout the probate process. Hourly rates for extraordinary services are consistent with the professional fiduciary rates published on this page.
